A: With System Center Service Manager (SCSM) 2010, announcements created were automatically displayed on the Service Manager website.

In SCSM 2012, any announcements aren't automatically displayed. This is because the SCSM 2012 portal is SharePoint based, and SharePoint has its own announcement capability that's far richer than the native Service Manager announcement solution.

Microsoft is therefore encouraging users to move to SharePoint announcements instead of the Service Manager announcement solution.

A normal SharePoint announcement Web Part can easily be added to the Service Manager pages using the Edit view.

It is possible to populate a SharePoint announcement Web Part from announcements in Service Manager using System Center Orchestrator. This is documented at the blog post "Integrate Service Manager and SharePoint announcements with a bit of Orchestrator magic."
