When you tune the Server service, the MinFreeConnections and MaxFreeConnections data values assume differing default values, unless these Value Names specifically exist in the registry.
The default values are:
Tuning Values | MinFreeConnections | MaxFreeConnections |

Minimize Memory Used | 2 | 4 |
Balance | 2 | 4 |
Maximize Throughput for File Sharing | 4 | 8 |
Maximize Throughput for Network Applications | 4 | 8 |
