JSI Tip 6915. Your System event log records several remote access service errors after you upgrade to Windows 2000 SP4?

After you upgrade to Windows 2000 Service Pack 4 (SP4), when you use the Event Viewer to inspect the System log, you see the following errors:

NOTE: If you attempt to create a new dial-up connection, some of the options are dimmed.

If you upgraded from SP3 and you had NOT previously configured the Routing and Remote Access service, or a remote access dial-up connection, some of the remote access-related binary files are immediately replaced. When the service pack Setup programs installs support for the 802.1x and initializes these new binaries, they conflict with the old binaries that had never been initialized.

To workaround this issue, shutdown and restart your computer to bring the remote access binary files up to date.
