When you use a modem to dial your ISP, you receive:

Error 678 - There was no answer.

If you connect a telephone to the same phone line and dial the same number, you rear a voice prompt to enter a long-distance access code.

If the phone number to dial your ISP is a long-distance call and the phone line that you are using does NOT have long-distance access, you will experience this behavior.

To resolve this issue, you must do one of the following:

- Use a phone line that has long-distance access.

- Use a local phone number for your ISP, if one is available.
