The Windows 2000 Content Indexing Service adds alternate data streams to .jpg, .gif, and .bmp files on your NTFS volume?

The filter driver that makes thumbnail images creates an alternate data stream named ?Q30lsldxJoudresxAaaqpcawXc.

To prevent the filter DLL from creating these data streams:

1. Use the Registry Editor to navigate to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESystemCurrentcontrolsetControlContentindex.

2. Delete the FilterTrackers Value Name.

NOTE: To remove the alternate data stream, copy the image file to a FAT or FAT32 volume and then copy it back to its' original location.
