If you have a non-printer parallel port device, you can enable the Plug and Play feature in Windows 2000 and Windows XP:
1. Right-click My Computer and press Manage.
2. Double-click Device Manager.
3. Double-click Ports.
4. Double-click the parallel port that is connected to the non-printer device.
5. Select the Port Settings tab.
6. Check the Enable legacy Plug and Play detection box and press OK.
7. When prompted, restart your computer.
