When you start your Windows 2000 computer, you receive:

STOP c000026c unable to load device driver %SystemRoot%System32Driversxxxxx.sys. Device driver could not be loaded, error status 0xc000012F.

If the driver represented by xxxxx.sys is NOT your boot device driver:

1. Start the computer from the Windows 2000 CD-ROM and press R and C, or select the recovery console from the multi-boot menu.

2. Enter the Administrator password and select the number of the installation you wish to fix.

3. In the Recovery Console command prompt, type:

disable xxxxx.sys

4. Type exit and restart your computer.
