After installing Windows 2000 Service Pack 2 on a domain controller, you receive:

The system process lsass.exe terminated unexpectedly with status code -1073741819. The system will now shut down and restart.

This error message occurs after every reboot, usually within 15 minutes.

The error is the result of having an invalid replInterval in the Configuration container of a site link.To fix the problem, change the Replicate every value, using the user interface on the site link, to be greater than or equal to 15 and less than or equal to 10080.

NOTE: You can use Ldp.exe or Adsiedit.exe to change the replInterval value.

The default value of Replicate every is 180 minutes. Prior to SP2, you could change this to a value outside the above range.

NOTE: See Q251057 - You Can Add Invalid Replication Interval and Cost Values for Site Link Properties.

NOTE: replInterval is stored at:

CN=siteLink Name,CN=IP,CN=Inter-Site Transports,CN=Sites,DC=Configuration,DC=domain,DC=suffix
