I was surprised by the speed that Windows 2000 exhibits while displaying thumbnail images.

The first time you display a thumbnail, Windows 2000 extracts the image from the file and stores is as two Alternate Data Streams.

You can use the CrucialADS freeware to locate these Alternate Data Streams.
