When you use Windows 2000 backup to backup a Windows 2000 or Windows NT computer over the network, NTBackup leaves Regxxxxx work files on the client disk drives, where xxxxx is any 5 characters. These temporary files consume space and are NOT needed after the backup is complete.

The temporary files are can be located in the following folders:

%SystemRoot%System32Documents and Settings%UserName%Documents and Settings%UserName%Local SettingsApplication DataMicrosoft%SystemRoot%Profiles

The best way to clean these files is to run NTBackup in a batch file and use the del command to delete the Regxxxxx when the backup is finished.
