User tacking is the process whereby Windows 2000 tracks the programs that users run, the paths they navigate, and the documents they open.

You can disable user tracking by implementing the Disable user tracking Group Policy at User ConfigurationAdministrativeTemplatesStart Menu & Taskbar. If you disable user tracking, Windows 2000 disables customized menus and other features that require user tracking information.

When you implement the Disable user tracking Group Policy, the NoInstrumentation value name, a REG_DWORD data type, is set to 1 at HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionPoliciesExplorer.
