When you use the MMC to expand a folder tree on a remote Window NT 4.0 computer, you receive:

The connection to [servername] could not be established. Check to see that you have sufficient permission to access the Windows Management Instrumentation and that the Windows Management Instrumentation service is started on the computer.

You may also record the following event:

Event ID: 10006Source: DCOMDescription: DCOM got error "Class not registered " from the computer              when attempting to activate the server: {8BC3F05E-D86B-11D0-A075-00C04FB68820}

NOTE: is the name of the Windows NT 4.0 computer you are trying to connect to.

To fix this problem, install WBEM (Microsoft Windows Based Enterprise Management) on the Windows NT 4.0 computer:

1. Locate wbemcore.exe on the Windows NT 4.0 SP4 CD-ROM.

2. Double-click wbemcore.exe and follow the installation instructions.
