The Microsoft Windows 2000 Resource Kit is incorrect when it states that PerformRouterDiscovery is enabled by default.

Windows 2000 supports IRDP to detect and configure Default Gateway addresses.

To enable IRDP, use Regedt32 to navigate to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MachineSystemCurrentControlSetServicesTcpipParametersInterfaces

On the Edit menu, Add Value name PerformRouterDiscovery, as a REG_DWORD data type. In the DWORD Editor, set the data value to 1.
