AutoComplete suggests possible matches for entries you type in the Address bar, a Web form, or a user name and password on a Web page.

AutoComplete suggestions are displayed as soon as a pattern is recognized. To use the suggestion, click it, or press the DOWN ARROW to display the list, click it, and press ENTER.

AutoComplete for Web addresses is enabled by default. Prior to enabling it for Web forms, you receive:

AutoComplete remembers entries in Web forms, like the one you just typed. In the future it can check your previous entries and list suggestions as you type.

Would you like to turn AutoComplete on?

When you first type a user name and password on a Web page, you receive:

Do you want Windows to remember this password, so that you don't have to type it again the next time you visit this page?

To alter AutoComplete settings or clear form or password suggestions:

1. Tools / Internet Options.

2. Select the Content tab.

3. Press the AutoComplete button.

4. Check/uncheck the boxes you wish and/or press either of the buttons.

5. Press OK and OK.

The AutoComplete list appears on a previously populated form when you:

- Type the first character in the field.

- Press the UP or DOWN keys in the field.

- Double-click a blank area in the field.

NOTE: to clear a form or password suggestion, click it and press the DELETE key.

To clear your AutoComplete history for Web addresses:

1. Tools / Internet Options.

2. Select the General tab.

3. Press Clear History.

4. Press OK.

To toggle inline AutoComplete for Web addresses:

1. Tools / Internet Options.

2. Select the Advanced tab.

3. Under Browsing, toggle the Use inline AutoComplete for Web addresses check box.

4. Press OK.

NOTE: If you use the Desktop Update, AutoComplete also work in in the address toolbar of Windows Explorer and in Start / Run.

The AutoComplete feature for Web addresses also includes an AutoCorrect feature that can correct common errors, "htp://" or "http:\" is corrected to "http://" when you press ENTER or Go.
