Service Pack 1 adds the ability to extract a mini dump from a full kernel dump, by updating the kernel and Savedump.exe.

NOTE: Data Center Server is delivered with this ability.

"A single field has been added to the memory dump file header, which points to all the symbols that are used to create a valid mini crash dump file. You can use this information when you are performing kernel-mode debugging of mini dump (64 KB) files. In addition, Savedump.exe has a new block of code that automatically writes a mini dump file concurrently when it writes a full dump. The mini dump file is saved in the %SystemRoot%Minidump folder, and has the following file name format:

Mini000000-instance_count.dmp"
