If you are running IE 4.0 - 5.01, you may receive an error when typing a URL into the address box or into Start / Run?

The message may be one of the following:

Explorer caused an invalid page fault in module Kernel32.dll.

Explorer caused an invalid page fault in module Shdocvw.dll.

Iexplore caused an invalid page fault in module Shdocvw.dll.

If AutoComplete is enabled and an entry in your History folder is damaged, you will experience this problem.

To resolve the problem:

1. Temporarily disable AutoComplete using Control Panel / Internet / Advanced.

2. Close all IE windows.

3. Logon as an administrative users whose History folder is not damaged and delete it.
For a clean Windows 2000 install,
the History folder is at Documents and SettingsLocal SettingsHistory.
In Windows NT 4.0 or a NT 4.0 upgraded to Windows 2000,
the History folder is at %SystemRootProfilesHistory.
