Even though you can't see your network icons, the network still functions?
You probably have a corrupt, missing, or invalid entry at:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOTInterface\{0000010C-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}
create a fixNwrk.REG file by using copy/Paste on the following:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOTInterface\{0000010c-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}]@="IPersist"[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOTInterface\{0000010c-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}NumMethods]@="4"[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOTInterface\{0000010c-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}ProxyStubClsid32]@="{00000320-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}"
Double-click the fixNwrk.REG file and press Yes when prompted.
Shutdown and restart your computer.
NOTE: Typing regsvr32 ole32.dll at a CMD prompt may also resolve your problem.
