JSI Tip 1491. Printing to a HP-UX or AIX 4.3 Print Server.

Per RFC1179, LPR servers MUST be able to receive the control file subcommand first and SHOULD be able to receive the data file subcommand first.

Windows NT sends the control file first, by default.

If the printer resides on a LPD server that uses the desirable but optional order, such as a HP-UX or IBM AIX v4.3 server, you may experience problems.

Use Regedt32 to navigate to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESystemCurrentControlSetControlPrintMonitorsLPR PortPorts

On the Edit menu, Add Value name HPUXCompatibility, as a type REG_DWORD, and set the data value to 1.

Either restart Windows NT or Stop and Start the Spooler service.

Test printing to the LPD service.
