Part of an ongoing series, we're highlighting the excellent speakers we have handpicked to present phenomenal and extremely valuable content at the IT/Dev Connections conference.
Today's speaker highlight is the highly technical, community energized, Jason Sandys.
Jason Sandys, ConfigMgr MVP, is a Technology Evangelist and Principal Consultant for Catapult Systems LLC, and has nearly 20 years of experience in a wide range of technologies, environments, and industries with extensive knowledge in implementing and supporting all things SMS and Configuration Manager beginning with SMS 2.0. Jason is also active in the online support community, is a co-author on System Center Configuration Manager 2012 Unleashed (Sams, 2012), was a contributing author to System Center Configuration Manager 2007 Unleashed (Sams, 2009), and is a frequent presenter at Microsoft TechEd, MMS as well as various user-groups nation-wide.
Jason's IT/Dev Connection sessions:
Recently, we asked Jason to give us a little information about himself. Here's what he shared:
WITPRO: Give us a brief introduction to Jason Sandys.
Jason: I am a ConfigMgr MVP, a Technology Evangelist and Principal Consultant for Catapult Systems Inc, and have nearly 20 years of experience in a wide range of technologies, environments, and industries with extensive knowledge in implementing and supporting all things SMS and Configuration Manager beginning with SMS 2.0. I am also active in the online support community, a co-author on System Center Configuration Manager 2012 Unleashed (Sams, 2012), a contributing author to System Center Configuration Manager 2007 Unleashed (Sams, 2009), and a frequent presenter at Microsoft TechEd, MMS as well as various user-groups nation-wide.
Not my first time in Vegas. I don’t do anything fun – or at least that’s what my wife says.
WITPRO: Describe the sessions you are presenting and why you feel the topic is important.
Jason: ConfigMgr Software Updates Zen – self-explanatory. It’s important because it’s a primary purpose of ConfigMgr in most environments yet there are still so many misconceptions about it.
Windows Installer for ConfigMgr Admins – self-explanatory. It’s important because it’s the predominant app installation technology and knowing how to use it is an integral part of every ConfigMgr’s job.
WITPRO: What should attendees expect to be able to take away from your sessions?
Jason: Solid, factual knowledge about Software Updates and Windows Installer to help them with their day to day tasks.
WITPRO: What is your primary reason to be excited about IT Connections?
Jason: Without the community, IT would be boring – well, the technology is always exciting (to me at least), but IT itself is pretty boring. Knowing that I’m helping folks though makes it a job worth doing though.
WITPRO: What is the one key technology you believe is changing IT right now?
Jason: Mobile devices and BYOD.
WITPRO: Who would you suggest Microsoft hire to replace Steve Ballmer as CEO?
Jason: Mark Russinovich.
