A. This is caused if the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetServiceslanmanserverparametersMaxMpxCtis less than 50.

---Systemprotocol---

Eventtype: Error
Eventsource: Server
Eventcategory: None
EventID: 2506
Description:
The value "MaxMpxCt" in registry key "LanmanServerParameters"is not valid.
The value will be ignored and server operation will continue.

To correct the problem perform the following:

  1. Start the registry editor (regedit.exe)

  2. Move to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetServiceslanmanserverparameters

  3. Double click on MaxMpxCt

  4. Set the type to decimal and enter 50. Click OK

  5. Close the registry editor

It is my understanding that Norton Antivirus is guilty of changing this to aninvalid value.
