A. In the early days of the Web, images didn't appear automatically in browser windows because of bandwidth limitations. Instead, just a placeholder appeared. Today, you can configure Internet Explorer (IE) to show or hide images.

  1. Start IE.

  2. From the Tools menu, select Internet Options.

  3. Select the Advanced tab, and scroll down to the Multimedia section.

  4. Select or clear the Show pictures checkbox.

  5. Click Apply, then click OK. The change will take effect the next time you view a Web page.
