A. If you attach a keyboard via PS/2 port after the Windows2000 installation has booted the keyboard will not work.

Service Pack 1 introduces a fix to I8042prt.sys (which can also be obtainedfrom Microsoft) which introduces hot-plugging ability assuming the BIOS supportsthis. To enable perform the following:

  1. Start the registry editor (regedit.exe)

  2. Move to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetServicesi8042prtParameters

  3. Double click Headless (or create of type DWORD)

  4. Set to 1

  5. Click OK

  6. Close the registry editor

  7. Restart the machine
