How can I use Chat behind a proxy server?

A. If you enable packet filtering, Internet Relay Chat (IRC) might pause for long periods of time or fail to connect because the proxy packet filter driver is filtering out the Identification Protocol (Identd). To resolve this problem, perform the following steps:
Open the Winsock Proxy Service properties, and select the Service tab.
Under the Shared Services section, select Security. Choose Add, and select the Identd filter from the list of predefined filters.
Adding the Identd filter prevents the proxy packet filter from discarding the traffic so that the Identd traffic can pass through.
Microsoft Chat uses the standard chat port (#6667).
