Q. What are the DHCP scope options for a RIS server that's separate from the DHCP server?

A. To enable a DHCP server to notify the client of a Remote Installation Services (RIS) server you need to set the following two scope options, as the figure shows:

  • Option 066 Boot Server Host Name, which is the DNS name of the RIS server

  • Option 067 Bootfile Name, which is the value of the ROM (e.g., OSChooseri386startrom.com)
