Customize handout and notes masters
October 30, 2007
When you print handouts, the outline, or notes, PowerPoint uses the handout master or notes master to determine the formatting of the printed page. As with the slide master, you can modify the handout or notes master to change the appearance, size, and positioning of elements on the page, and you can create headers and footers with document identifying information such as the date and page number.
The handout master manages the layout of handouts (1, 2, 3, 4, 6 or 9 per page) and of the outline.
To modify the handout master:
Choose View → Master ? Handout Master.
Use buttons on the Handout Master toolbar to switch between the masters for each layout of handouts (1, 2, 3, 4, 6, or 9 per page) and of the outline.
If a placeholder is accidentally deleted, click the Handout Master Layout button in the toolbar, or choose Format ? Handout Master Layout.
You can configure the background of the handout using the Handout Background command.
You can insert your logo, pictures, clipart and other objects just as you would on a slide.
You can format placeholders and objects just as you would on a slide.
To modify the notes master:
Choose View ? Master ? Notes Master.
If a placeholder is accidentally deleted, click the Notes Master Layout button in the toolbar, or choose Format ? Notes Master Layout.
You can configure the background of the handout using the Notes Background command.
You can insert your logo, pictures, clipart and other objects just as you would on a slide.
