Applying borders and shading
October 30, 2007
To apply borders and shading to text in a document, use the Borders and Shading command.
Choose Format → Borders and Shading.
The Borders tab of the Borders and Shading dialog box allows you to select from a series of common presets, or to select a style, width, and color of your choice and apply the border using the sample on the right.
On the Shading tab, you can apply a background color to text.
There are other shortcuts to the formats in the Borders and Shading dialog box:
The Borders button on the Formatting toolbar.
The Tables and Borders toolbar, which contains line style, weight, color, and position buttons.
The best way to familiarize yourself with the options available in the Borders and Shading command is to experiment.
