To align text within a header or footer, you can use the default center and tab stops, but you will be better served by creating a table to align text.

A three-column, one-row table is an example of a common way to align text within a header or footer. For example

title left aligned

page number centered

author right aligned

  1. Position the insertion point in a header or footer.

  2. Create one-row, three column table.

  3. Turn off all borders on the table.

  4. Set horizontal alignment for each cell: left-align the left cell, center the middle cell, and right-align the right cell.

  5. Set vertical alignment for all three cells: bottom for the header and top for the footer.
