JSI Tip 8482. The MS04-003 security update is continually offered as a critical update by Windows Update and/or Automatic Updates?

The MS04-003 security update is offered by Windows Update and/or Automatic Updates, even though you have already installed it.

If you try to manually install it, you may receive:

An error occurred while setup was trying to verify the version of Microsoft Data Access Components currently installed on the machine. Either the version currently installed does not match the version of this hotfix package, or setup was unable to determine the version currently installed.

To fix this behavior, download and install the Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) 2.8, and then install the MS04-003 security update.

NOTE: To install MS04-003 security update from Windows Update:

1. Use the Internet Explorer Tools menu to press Windows Update.

2. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the offered updates.
