A. On July 26, 2005, Automatic Updates will begin pushing out Windows 2003 SP1. If you don't want to install Windows 2003 SP1, you can use the Windows 2003 SP1 Blocker Tool Kit to block its installation on certain servers. You can download the tool at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=FC145B0B-C148-445A-82BA-9B2F3AEF6E60&displaylang=en. You can opt to deploy the tool by using a signed executable, a script, or Group Policy via a supplied .adm file. All three methods set to 1 the DWORD value DoNotAllowSP under the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwarePoliciesMicrosoftWindowsWindowsUpdate registry subkey. Microsoft plans to disable the blocking functionality on March 30, 2006, at which time Automatic Updates will install Windows 2003 SP1
