A. You can configure WMP to automatically check for updates once a day, once a week, or once a month. To configure this setting, open the Tools menu, click Options, then select the Player tab. To turn off the automatic update feature, perform the following steps:
Start a registry editor (e.g., regedit.exe).
Navigate to the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREPoliciesMicrosoftWindowsMediaPlayer registry subkey, or create this subkey if it doesn't exist.
From the Edit menu, select New, DWORD Value.
Enter the name DisableAutoUpdate, then press Enter.
Double-click the new value, set it to 1, then click OK.
Close the registry editor.
Restart WMP for the change to take effect.
