RSA Security and iRevolution announced a strategic relationship with iRevolution to provide two-factor authentication to Microsoft Passport. The two companies will create a solution designed to provide Passport users single-sign-on capabilities using RSA Mobile software. RSA Mobile works on mobile phones using short messaging service (SMS) to deliver one-time access codes to end users for use with Passport-enabled Web sites.

A spokesperson for RSA Security said, "The user simply enters their Passport sign in name and password followed by the one-time access code to be positively authenticated. This innovative, two-factor authentication solution is designed to enhance the user experience by giving them a portable, intuitive and easy to use method for securely accessing their valuable data assets. Under the terms of the agreement, iRevolution, an integrated software solutions provider will serve as the third-party host of the combined solution and manage additional credentials."

"iRevolution's collaboration with [RSA Security and Microsoft] will enable organizations to easily integrate enhanced systems for digital identity management, increasing consumer confidence and improving convenience for the end user," said Eamus Halpin, Chief Executive Officer at iRevolution.
