JSI Tip 9703. E-mail notifications are not sent when you configure the SMTP exit module to send e-mail notifications on a Windows Server 2003 certification authority?

The Windows Server 2003 certification authority can send e-mail messages to users, administrators, and to certificate managers about operations on the certification authority.

When you configure the SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) exit module on Windows Server 2003, Standard Edition, the notifications are NOT sent.

The problem occurs because Windows Server 2003, Standard Edition does not support sending e-mail notifications on the certification authority.

NOTE Windows Server 2003, Enterprise Edition does NOT have this problem.
