Setting up an 802.1x network is one of the most challenging tasks for administrators and network professionals who are trying to secure and to centrally control wireless access. To set up the wireless infrastructure for this network, an administrator or network professional must use a central authentication server using a major authentication protocol like RADIUS. Microsoft’s implementation of this protocol is Internet Authentication Service (IAS). This Support WebCast provides an in-depth look at how to use IAS as the RADIUS server to set up an 802.1x network. The WebCast also includes information about how to set up underlying systems like Certification Authority services, Active Directory, and Group Policy. It talks about these topics and helps remove ambiguities about how to do this, why to do it this way, and what tools to use. It discusses the whole setup process for 802.1x networks, including client setup, server setup, advanced setup, underlying services setup, recommendations, and basic troubleshooting.
This is a Level 300 session that will be presented by Sam Salhi.
Sam Salhi is a member of the IAS test team and has worked on testing this component for more than three years. He previously worked on localization and globalization of Windows, and has worked in several capacities in the computer industry. Sam has a Computer Engineering degree, and also holds the Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer + Internet (MCSE+I) certification.
