The subject condition is ususally the result of a corrupt event log.

Event logs are .Evt files located at %SystemRoot%%systemroot%system32config.

You might be able to fix the problem, if you are very quick, by using tip 2513.

If not, boot the Recovery Console and rename the files.

When you restart, new log files will be created.
