Q: I want to upgrade my Hyper-V environment from Windows Server 2012 to Windows Server 2012 R2 and I'm using Hyper-V Replica. Is there an upgrade order required?
A: Yes, there's an upgrade order required. You need to upgrade the replica server BEFORE the source server. Windows Server 2012 R2 can receive replicas from Windows Server 2012 and Windows Server 2012 R2. Therefore upgrade the replica first, and then after the replica Hyper-V server is upgraded, you should upgrade the source Hyper-V server.
