A:I use the NetApp OnTap simulator for my SAN testing and moved the Linux virtual machine (VM) from my Windows 2008 R2 Hyper-V server to a Windows 2012(formerly code-named Windows Server 8) Hyper-V server.
After the move, I could no longer reach the VM. To use the OnTap simulator on Hyper-V, theserequirements must be met:
The Hyper-V VM network adapters must be configured with static MAC addresses.
The Hyper-V VM network adapters must be enabled for MAC address spoofing.
The static MAC address of the Hyper-V VM network adapter must be entered in file /,mac-address file (e.g., /sim/,mac-address--yes that's a comma not a period).
On my environment, the spoofing wasn't enabled, so make sure the VM is stopped, navigate to the network adapter, Advanced Features, and make sure Enable MAC address spoofing is selected.
Restart the VM, start the simulator, then test communication works by navigating to the administrationwebsite (e.g., http:///na_admin). See the screen shot below.
