A: When a VM is started, a binary file (.bin) is created in the virtual machines folder, equal in size to the current memory allocation (it will change if dynamic memory is used for the VM, and there may be some small difference), as shown here:

If you receive an error when trying to start a VM saying that Hyper-V couldn't create the .BIN file, check your disk space and make sure you have enough to create a BIN file equal to the memory of the VM. If you're having this problem, you really should look to add more disk space or move VMs, because you don't want to be running your storage this full.
