Xbox Music for Windows Phone 8.1 Updated Again

Microsoft has delivered the third in a long series of promised updates to Xbox Music for Windows Phone 8.1. This is another minor bump that adds the ability to navigate to the next song from Now Playing by swiping up on the album art, plus a few other small fixes.

Microsoft last updated Xbox Music for Windows Phone 8.1 just two weeks ago, which is pretty much the cadence for these updates, it now seems. That update added a music scrubber and a few other changes.

This time around, we get a similarly subtle set of changes. These include:

Change tracks with a swipe. You can now swipe the album art on the Now Playing screen to change tracks. Swipe up to go to the next track or down to go to the previous track. As you do, the album art will slide with your finger.

Up next. Microsoft didn't mention this one, but there is also a nice "Up next" note below the scrubber in Now Playing that tells you which track is next. (Oddly, in the Windows 8.1 version of Xbox Music, Now Playing was recently updated with a "You just heard" note that tells you which song had played previously.)

UI layout changes "to make more room for content."

Minor bug fixes.

In short, nothing major.

This update bumps the version number from 2.5.3884.0 to 2.5.3929.0. You should have received it automatically by now, but you can visit the app's page on Windows Phone Store to force the update if not.
