Surf In the Air

A plane ride has always been a good opportunity to catch up on work, watch a movie, or just relax. Now a new service from The Boeing Company could make airplanes more like your home office. The company has officially announced pricing for Connexion by Boeing, high-speed Internet access that will let flyers surf the Internet while traveling on commercial jets. The service will let passengers connect wirelessly to the Internet to check email, surf Web sites, and even connect to corporate networks. Connexion by Boeing will offer both flat-rate and metered pricing. Flat-rate unlimited use will cost $29.95 for flights longer than 6 hours, $19.95 for flights lasting 3 to 6 hours, and $14.95 for flights less than 3 hours long. The metered option will cost $9.95 for the first 30 minutes, plus 25 cents for each additional minute. If the flight is less than 3 hours long, the price drops to $7.95 for the first half hour, plus 25 cents for each additional minute. Expect to see the service debut by the end of April on selected Lufthansa flights. All Nippon Airways (ANA), Japan Airlines (JAL), and Scandinavian Airlines System (SAS) are expected to launch the service later this year.
