Infographic: The Popularity of Mobile Phones

I remember the 1980's when some of my friends' parents had car phones. I thought that was awesome, and in the mind of a kid it truly was a sign of success. One of my friends had a mother who was a Mary Kay consultant, high up in the organization. She had the pink Cadillac and everything – and yes, it was outfitted with a car phone.

Still, it wasn't until the early 1990's when I had my own cell phone, issued to me by the company for which I worked. But, since that day, I've never been without. Cell phones have become part of our daily lives and is the one piece of technology that must always be on your person.

The following Infographic shows just how enormous the mobile phone market is and how much it has grown since the 1990's. The Infographic is a bit older, showing stats up to 2009 when Nokia had the biggest global market share, but it's still an amazing set of stats.
