HPE CEO Meg Whitman Teases “The Machine”

During the day 2 keynote for HPE Discovery 2016, Meg Whitman found a way to excite the crowd about something that will alter the computing landscape but doesn’t quite exist yet. Saying it was a “generic” update is an understatement.

We have to sort of assume (it’s truly not clear) that “The Machine” is HPE’s answer to IBM’s Watson supercomputer. All we know right now is that it has something to do with the neon green rectangles that HPE had littered about the conference halls and show floors. Incidentally, in case you missed it, the green rectangles are HPE’s logo.

Without talking about what “The Machine” would consist of, Whitman said that pertinent information will be shared on an ongoing basis, when it’s ready, and over the next few months. The promise is that “The Machine” will yet deliver sometime in 2016.

At the beginning of the 21st century, the earth needed to find a way to keep up with the data from over 30 billion connected devices, which changed the basic architecture of computing. This year, Hewlett Packard Enterprise will preview The Machine: http://www.hpe.com/themachine
