Q. Windows Update keeps trying to download updates for an older version of Office I no longer have installed, how can I fix this?

A. Sometimes Office leaves a few artifacts behind which Windows Update interprets as that version is still installed and tries to download and apply updates which fails in an endless loop. The solution is to use Office Scrub on the previous version of Office to remove all artifacts and stop Windows Update trying to update it. Note using Office Scrub will not impact a newer version installed. Detail on Office Scrub can be found at http://windowsitpro.com/windows/remove-office-machine-not-cleanly-uninstalling.
