How to Type the Ukrainian Hryvnia Symbol (₴)

There are easy ways to type the Ukrainian hryvnia sign or symbol (₴) in a Microsoft Word document on a PC, on Mac computers, and on iOS or Android devices.

How to Insert the Ukrainian Hryvnia Sign in Microsoft Word

If you’re using Microsoft Word on a PC, go to the place in your document where you would like to insert the hryvnia symbol. Next, hold the ALT key and type 8372 on your numeric keypad.

If you plan on using the Ukrainian hryvnia symbol frequently in a Microsoft Word document, you can adjust your AutoCorrect options to automatically replace a word (such as “Ukrainian Hryvnia”) with ₴. 

How to Insert the Ukrainian Hryvnia Sign on a Mac

You can find the hryvnia symbol in your Mac’s Emoji & Symbols library. Hold down the Control, Command, and Spacebar keys to reveal the Character Viewer. On the left-hand sidebar, select Currency Symbols.

You can either double-click the hryvnia symbol or drag the ₴ into your document.

An easy alternative for inserting the ₴ into your document is to use copy and paste. Highlight the ₴ in this article and hold Command and press C. Locate the part of your document where you would like to paste, then hold Command and press V

How to Insert the Ukrainian Hryvnia Sign on a Mobile Device

To type the hryvnia symbol on an iPhone, you will first need to add Ukrainian to your list of available keyboards. In Settings, click General, followed by Keyboards. The option at the bottom of your screen to Add New Keyboard will include Ukrainian. Once selected, go to the app where you would like to type the hryvnia symbol. Press and hold the Globe key to reveal Ukrainian. Once selected, hold down the U.S. dollar sign ($) to reveal the ₴.

To type the hryvnia symbol on an Android device, first switch to a Ukrainian keyboard. Find Languages in the Systems part of your Settings. Tap Virtual keyboard, followed by Gboard. Under Languages, you can select the option for Ukrainian.
