If you've been hoping for new generative AI solutions from Nvidia and Lenovo, you're in luck.

The overall approach allows enterprises to use a hybrid cloud environment. End users will build custom AI models with Nvidia's AI Foundations cloud service. Those models will run with on-premises Lenovo systems, which feature Nvidia's hardware and software designed for generative AI, the companies said.

Along the way, Lenovo's newly formed AI Professional Services Practice will support the generative AI solutions. Even so, channel partners will gain.

"This week's announcements unlock tangible benefits for MSPs and channel partners by bringing generative AI to every enterprise via fully integrated hybrid AI solutions," Nvidia and Lenovo told Channel Futures in a joint statement not attributed to a spokesperson. "Developed in close partnership with Nvidia, MSPs and system integrators can now rapidly build custom AI models using Nvidia AI Foundations cloud services, and then run them with advanced Lenovo systems on-premises."

In addition, the combination of Lenovo's professional services and its TruScale offering will let enterprises pay on an "as you go" model.

"With these hybrid AI solutions being offered under Lenovo's TruScale 'pay-as-you-go' model, channel partners and enterprise customers gain a key differentiator in today's market by using cutting-edge AI technologies to transform their businesses at scale," Nvidia and Lenovo said.

Generative AI Surpasses the Hype Cycle?

The development showcases that the generative AI movement of 2023 has emerged as more than hype.

"Together, Lenovo and Nvidia are driving a new era of hybrid AI for businesses, designing the next generation of technology that delivers an AI-powered future now and unlocks the power of their data anywhere it is created," said Kirk Skaugen, president of Lenovo Infrastructure Solutions Group. "Lenovo's expanded engineering and time to market partnership with Nvidia simplifies the path to generative AI for all and helps customers anywhere rapidly use cutting-edge AI to transform their business."

Bob Pette, vice president of enterprise platforms at Nvidia, agreed.

"With generative AI driving the greatest technology transformation of our time, enterprises are seeking solutions that give them the flexibility to develop and deploy workloads across their workstations, data centers and clouds," Pette said. "Nvidia and Lenovo are providing a comprehensive portfolio of hybrid AI systems that businesses can rely on to power generative AI from virtually anywhere."

Nvidia and Lenovo concurred in the statement to Channel Futures.

"This hybrid AI approach not only accelerates the implementation of purpose-built generative AI in its most advanced forms, but also delivers this capability to service providers and system integrators anywhere enterprise their data is being generated," they said.

Lenovo added that its solutions also will support the recently announced VMware Private AI Foundation with Nvidia. As such, VMware customers will have the ability to streamline their generative AI adoption, the companies said.
