The Home Shopping Network (HSN) recently migrated from Oracle running on Sun Solaris to SQL Server 2000 running on Windows 2000 Advanced Server to reduce costs, increase performance, and decrease time to market for new functionality. SQL Server 2000’s Data Transformation Services (DTS) lets HSN coordinate and schedule the transfer of data between SQL Server and the company’s mainframe database.“We chose SQL Server 2000 because it provided performance at a much better price point, allowing us to maximize our return on investment,” said David Schrader, HSN’s manager of systems engineering.See http://www.microsoft.com/servers/net/HSN.htm for the complete HSN case study.
