Automatically Convert Access Databases to SQL Server
ConvertU2 announced 2SQL, software that automatically converts Microsoft Access databases to SQL Server by using the Microsoft Access Project model. 2SQL converts Access queries to views or stored procedures, Data Access Objects (DAOs) to ADOs, Access functions to SQL Server equivalents, and Access functions that don't have SQL Server equivalents to user-defined functions (UDFs). 2SQL uses the Access Upsizing Wizard or SQL Server Migration Assistant to upsize data and tables. 2SQL is licensed as a service. Your Access database is scanned for conversion problems, then you pay for the number of conversion units needed to convert to SQL Server. "Murach's SQL Server 2005 for Developers" has a list price of $52.50 and right now, you can purchase the book at Marach's Web site for $36.75. Q&A: Stored Procedure Runtime
by Brian Moran, [email protected]

Q. During performance tests in both single-user and multiple-user modes, I received some confusing results. A particular stored procedure generally runs in 5 seconds; however, when multiple users run the query at the same time, it takes nearly five times as long to run all the queries. After the first user receives the results, the others come back one right after another. Does SQL Server let only one person execute a stored procedure at any given time?
