Pervasive Software Inc. and Renaissance Worldwide Inc. are teaming up to deliver turnkey e-business solutions powered by Tango 2000 Web application development software. The first jointly developed e-business application is a Tango 2000-based IT community called Utopia Place, sponsored by TriActive Inc., which provides a peer community for IT professionals in mid-sized organizations. Utopia stands for User-Tested Optimized Practices in action, emphasizing the forum’s focus on involving IT professionals in refining systems management practices.A next-generation Web development environment, Tango 2000 improves the time to develop and deploy critical e-business applications, combining sophisticated but easy-to-use technology with an open, extensible architecture. Tango 2000 includes a copy of the Pervasive.SQL database, robust reporting functionality and full support for leading databases and industry standards, such as SQL, XML, WML, JavaBeans, JavaScript, COM objects, ODBC, HTML, HTTP, and CGI.“We chose Tango 2000 as the foundation for Utopia Place because it provided exceptional time to market, enabling us to get the forum up and running in weeks, rather than months,” says Hayden Stewart, TriActive’s vice president of engineering. “Tango’s visual, object-oriented development environment will also make ongoing site maintenance fast, easy, and cost effective.”
