The New York State Human Services Application Service Center (HSASC) selected Cognos’ Web-based Cognos Enterprise Reporting Solution for statewide reporting. Adopting the Cognos product will allow the state to reduce operating costs more than $1 million annually, improve residents’ quality of life, and offer better services.Providing IT services to four major New York state government agencies, HSASC chose Cognos to help it modernize its IT infrastructure by moving from a paper-bound system, which generates 12 million printed report pages each month, to Cognos’ electronic online analysis and reporting. Thousands of state employees are analyzing information and creating, accessing, and distributing reports via an HSASC intranet with the Cognos solution, with minimal involvement from the IT department. “Government agencies work in a data-intensive environment. Transforming data into concise and coordinated information and empowering employees to make fast and informed decisions is a critical requirement for government agencies servicing the public,” says Tom Camps, Cognos market strategies vice president.
