Steuben Foods, a leading producer of dairy products, implemented Wonderware’s Protean 3.1 enterprise resource planning (ERP) application in a record 61 days. The installation included Protean’s financials, inventory, customer order management, procurement, costing, and production core modules."Faster implementation was a defining factor in Steuben’s selection, and Protean has a process manufacturing focus," says Jeffrey Sokal, Steuben Foods comptroller. "Protean is easy to use, so the company didn’t need to spend a lot of time and expense on end-user training. As a result, Steuben didn’t incur the downtime typically encountered when implementing a new system."Sokal anticipates that Protean will let Steuben Foods provide data from the plant floor for quick analysis, which will help the company pinpoint problems while increasing efficiencies and decreasing losses. Protean also will help the company with its lot-tracing capabilities, ease report-writing and data-mining needs, and eliminate duplicate efforts.
