Cognos and NCR signed an enterprise agreement, allowing NCR to deploy Cognos’ Enterprise Reporting for e-business solutions to NCR employees. Financial details of the agreement were not disclosed. The alliance expands the companies’ strategic relationship, which includes NCR’s resale of Cognos software as the front end to its Teradata data warehouse solution and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) products. NCR will use the Web-based Cognos solution companywide to deliver coordinated and consistent information to employees through an NCR intranet.Initially, NCR will use Cognos for Balanced Scorecard, a software that lets employees track NCR’s financial results, customer transactions and communication, internal processes, and NCR innovations through an on-line, interactive electronic scorecard. NCR will also use Asset Management, which lets NCR’s finance group manage, track, and monitor worldwide inventory and accounts receivable; and Business Analysis and Management System, to enhance employees’ information analysis and reporting capabilities. Eventually, NCR will extend the Cognos solution to other enterprise applications.“We selected Cognos because they make every effort to know their customers’ business,” says Scott Klimo, NCR enterprise data warehouse end-user tools manager. “Cognos understands how we work and our business objectives, and is committed to making its customers successful by offering great products and customer support.”
